Good looking, complimentary, innovative, practical, flexible, traditional and contemporary--and that's just what people say about his projects!
Ron has made a name for himself by being able to make the most out of new and existing spaces around the home. Thanks to word of mouth recommendations he has been increasingly specialising in residential projects.
This, in no small part, has been a result of being able to work closely with clients, identifying future as well as current needs and presenting alternative options so that all possible opportunities were considered.
Ron can help you enhance and realise the full potential of your property, either upon a 'plans only' or a fully-managed project.

We first used Ron's services in 2000 when he designed a unique extension and loft conversion for our home. In all, he helped us create two generous bedrooms and a bathroom in our small three bedroom bungalow.
Eight years later we embarked on another project with him building an ambitious two floor extension--all without any notable alteration to the character of the building.
Ron has worked for us like a friend as well as a professional, but he has always put our needs as a client first. I have already recommended Ron's services to two of my friends and I would have no hesitation doing so again to any potential clients of his.

With a first baby on the way, needed an extra bedroom and hopefully a small shower room in the attic but concerned about losing what valuable space there was downstairs.
Ron managed to fit in a unique space-saving staircase that everyone loves, not only kept all the room sizes downstairs but actually increased the size of our bathroom, and somehow managed to accommodate not only a master bedroom upstairs, but also a full bathroom and study.

Ron has been responsible for improving our last 3 houses with each project becoming more challenging. Overcoming substantial resistance from the Planning Department, he succeeded in gaining all consents to allow us to build a 2 storey extension within our small rear garden that has transformed our home by providing us with an excellent kitchen area with covered porch and a 3rd bedroom and further bathroom upstairs.
As far as external appearance is concerned, in a residential area full of extensions, it is reckoned to be one of the best around, blending in so well with the original house and making the best possible use of the space inside.

With the two bedroom ex miners terrace cottage being in a Conservation Area and dormers not an option, there was initial concern that it wouldn't be possible to get the accommodation needed in the attic especially as some similar houses seemed to lose one room (for the stair) to gain another.
With the loss of about half a bed recess, Ron managed to get a proper stair up from the hall to the attic. When friends were shown the bedroom at the top of the stair, they said that it was quite a good sized double room and asked if the other door off the landing was to a bathroom. When shown the split level master bedroom with ensuite off a dedicated changing area, they were lost for words.

In the extension of this traditional upper villa, Ron came up with a unique idea that not only provided a fantastic master bedroom and full bathroom upstairs, but also a great storeroom that can be used as a study.
Whilst accommodating the stair lost about a metre from a 3.6m deep bedroom, a wardrobe and storage was gained under it and its design still allows the room to be used as a double or twin guest bedroom.
The huge and unexpected bonus however, has been the complete transformation of the middle of the house by opening up a previous small internal hallway and awful dark narrow stairwell into the new attic stairwell that lets light permeate down through open risers.

Since Ron took over and doubled the accommodation being proposed in a steading conversion project near North Berwick in 1994 to 13 houses, he has worked together with Weeks Developments upon all their building projects.
These have included major extensions at both Joiners Cottage in Traprain and Mill House in Eddleston, a new house in Eddleston and a another three unit steading conversion in the Ettrick Valley.

After being recommended to Ron, he carried out a small first job that not only gave us the utility room we needed, but because he located it on the side of the house rather than the rear, gave us a lovely looking vestibule with a front facing door rather than the original draughty side entrance.
In 2009, we asked him to remodel the main house that involved the demolition and replacement of a previous 2 storey flat roof extension that has transformed both the main living and bedroom areas.
